Francesco Bagnaia finished fifth ahead of Jack Miller, while Aleix Espargaro dropped to seventh after that promising start. Coming in fourth was Brad Binder on the second KTM after starting 13th on the grid. Oliveira crossed the line soon after followed by Quartararo taking a distant third.

However, Marquez wasn't letting go of this and held on to the spot taking his first victory in over a year by 1.610s. With 12 laps to go, Oliveira was now eating into Marquez's lead with the gap down to 1.5s with three laps to go. The Ducati rider's fading pace meant Quartararo managed to pass Miller but still didn't have the pace matching that of Oliveira and Marquez. He also turned out to be the only rider to match Marquez's pace and was now hunting down on the Repsol Honda with Miller being a distant third over the top two riders. As the showers passed a couple of laps later, Marquez held a lead of 2s by the halfway mark, while Oliveira had climbed the ranks to take second from Miller.
